Why use a skimmer for your water garden?
A skimmer will pull debris that is floating on the surface of the pond into a debris basket for removal. This will prevent the debris from becoming water logged and sinking to the bottom of the pond. A skimmer will also serve as a prefilter for the pump as it will remove floating debris and prevent it from coming into direct contact with the pump. Some skimmers contain filter pads that further prefilter the water. Others are designed for solids handling pumps and will not filter out smaller solids in the water.
